The Department Complex for Chemical Engineering and Biotech

Established in 2006, the Department of Chemical Engineering of the National Institute of Technology Calicut offers programmes leading to Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree as well as Ph.D. The four year undergraduate programme leads to the Bachelor of Technology(B.Tech) degree in Chemical Engineering. Master’s level programmes(started in 2015) are of two year duration and lead to the degree of Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Chemical Engineering. The research programme in Chemical Engineering, leads to the Ph.D. Degree awarded by the Institute.

The Department of Chemical Engineering is situated in the East Campus sharing its building with The Department of Biotechnology. The Head of the Department is Dr. Haribabu K. The Department contains a good number of professors and very bright students.

The R&D projects undertaken in the past were sponsored by the various agencies like the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) Government of India, the Department of Science &Technology (DST) Government of India, Science and Engineering Research Board(SERB) and the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment(KSCSTE),Government of Kerala.
